Job Summary
Greet and check in patients while verifying demographics, insurance, and documentation. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments; collect copays, coinsurance, and balances. Manage incoming telephone calls and route them appropriately. Maintain accurate patient information in the electronic medical record system by scanning, uploading, and documenting records and correspondence. Coordinate referrals and assist with obtaining authorizations. Assist with daily front office operations, including processing messages and maintaining an organized reception area. Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and providers
- Ability to use a computer and telephone for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry office supplies and materials
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
- Proficiency with computers, email, and standard office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous medical office or healthcare front desk experience
- Experience in a specialty medical practice, preferably urology
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion when interacting with patients
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
