Job Summary
Greets and completes check-in procedures for arriving guests using manual and computerized methods, while facilitating daily check-outs by closing accounts and preparing rooms for the next sell. Calculates and posts monies, receipts, and guest accounts using accurate cash handling procedures to maintain precise hotel records. Answers reservations and inquiries in person and by telephone, utilizing suggestive selling techniques to increase occupancy and revenue. Operates PBX equipment to accept incoming calls, schedule wake-up calls, and page guests, while controlling cash transactions at the front desk. Maintains friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor throughout all guest interactions, providing timely responses to area functions and concerns.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- High school graduate level mathematical aptitude
- Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures
- Knowledge of computerized cash register systems
- Past experience in dealing directly with the public
- General knowledge of basic customer service skills
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
- High level of organization
- Ability to pay attention to minute written and verbal details
- Ability to read written communiques and monochrome computer screen
- Ability to operate computer, calculator and telephone keyboards
- Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions
- Ability to work on more than one task at a time
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to stand for 90% of shift
- Ability to bend and kneel repeatedly
- Ability to reach all areas of hotel to assist clients
- Ability to carry and lift files and office items up to 25 lbs
