Freshman/Novice Rowing Coach

Job Summary

Lead and supervise 4–5 afternoon practices weekly, teaching rowing fundamentals, boat handling, and safety protocols. Mentor student-athletes to build confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic while fostering an inclusive, disciplined team culture. Ensure athlete well-being by operating and maintaining a safe training environment in strict adherence to all boating safety standards. Collaborate with the Head Coach to support the program's teaching-first philosophy and overall goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Part-time, seasonal position
  • Approximately 4–5 afternoon practices per week
  • Weekend regatta responsibilities during the competitive season
  • Previous competitive rowing and/or coaching experience
  • Experience safely operating a coaching launch (motorboat) in a training environment
  • Knowledge of rowing technique, athlete development, and on-the-water safety procedures
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor high school student-athletes
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to contributing to a high-performing coaching staff
