Job Summary
Develop and communicate clear goals for the team and individual players while establishing a group that demonstrates good sportsmanship. Build player skills specific to basketball and maintain open, honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and the Athletic Director. Create an environment where athletes gain self-esteem, connect athletic experiences with life lessons, and model good sportsmanship. Enforce the student-athlete code of conduct and promote teamwork among coaches and players. Support student academic expectations and ensure a safe, healthy environment. Commit to a flexible time schedule with consistent, reliable attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with parents and students
- Ability to commit to a flexible time commitment
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- First aid and CPR knowledge
- Basketball and/or coaching experience
- Demonstrate understanding of leadership best practices specific to the sport and age group
- Develop the knowledge and understanding of Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as it applies to athletics
- Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct
- Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes
- The employee will remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout his/her employment with the district
Desired Qualifications
- Basketball and/or coaching experience preferred
- First aid and CPR knowledge preferred
