Job Summary
Assist in the direction and coordination of interscholastic athletics, working with the Head Coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games. Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and community while operating within conference and SDHSAA policies. Maintain staff relationships with other coaches and assist with fund-raising activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. This role supports student-athletes in developing life skills and fostering a commitment to excellence through meaningful competition and teamwork at Washington High School.
Required Qualifications
- Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent (must be completed one time)
- Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent (must be renewed once every two years)
- Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know (must be renewed on an annual basis)
- Hand-eye/mind-eye coordination
- Physical dexterity
- The ability to bend
- The ability to stoop
- The ability to walk
- The ability to talk
- The ability to sit
- The ability to travel between locations
- Post-Offer Criminal Background Check
Desired Qualifications
- BA/BS Education Preferred
- Coaching and teaching experience
- High school/college participation
- Teaching assignment in building
