Job Summary
Create stylish floral and plant arrangements for in-store customers and off-site events like weddings. Assist with all floral department operations, including building product displays, negotiating estimates, and delivering arrangements to off-site locations. Manage inventory, order products, and monitor shrink while collaborating with upper management on sales data and profitability goals. Provide consultations on floral types and prices, address customer complaints, and maintain a clean, safe environment. Schedule and direct work for partners, ensuring proper plant maintenance and adherence to safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma or GED
- Three or more years of related experience
- Equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Intermediate knowledge of floral department operations
- Intermediate knowledge of flowers, handling, and design techniques
- Basic knowledge of budget planning, profit and loss statements, labor reports, and other financial statements
- Basic knowledge of automated reporting systems including, but not limited to, inventory, cost of goods, scheduling, time and attendance, and labor
- Basic mathematical skills for assessing inventory and ordering
- Basic knowledge of SAP reporting applications
- Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate responsibilities
- Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with partners, customers, and the community
- Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all time
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and practice proper time management
- Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions
- Ability to promote sales and negotiate prices
- Ability to occasionally travel to off-site locations to make floral deliveries, set up arrangements at special events, and pick up flowers from external markets
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to use precision hand tools
- Required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy
- Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus
- Continuously required to stand or walk
- Frequently required to talk and hear
- Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling
- Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs
- Occasionally required to use fine finger movements (ex. sorting and typing)
- Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel or squat
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl
- Occasionally required to drive
- Attendance at work is required
