Job Summary
Teach up to three students at a time using provided curriculum and Oxford Learning methodologies, guiding them through French lessons in both online and in-person settings. Explain material, check understanding, and fill in post-lesson notes while completing daily student communication updates. Maintain a friendly, professional manner focused on building student self-confidence and academic skills. Work evenings Monday through Friday with Saturday availability, requiring a commute to the Surrey area. Candidates must reside locally, possess strong French and English skills, and complete vulnerable sector screening.
Required Qualifications
- All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours as well as some Saturdays
- A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred
- Continuing through the summer is even better
- Reliable
- Strong background in spoken and written French and English
- Comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level
- Up to Grade 12
- Instruct class sessions in French
- Commute to this location
- Not an online position
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 4-12 French core curriculum
- Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 4 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Surrey area
