Job Summary
French Interpreter needed for in-person interpretation in the Bennington, VT area, serving Massachusetts-area clients. Role is an independent contractor with flexible, PRN hours; requires full bilingual proficiency, medical terminology familiarity, HIPAA confidentiality, and reliable transportation for local appointments. Responsibilities include providing in-person interpretation, possibly via video calls, using an online portal for vouchers, and maintaining a printer for materials. Prior interpreting experience and certification are REQUIRED; simultaneous interpreting experience is preferred. The schedule varies with client needs and languages spoken; some availability during typical working hours (M-F 7AM-5PM) is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Interpreting experience and certification REQUIRED
- Fully bilingual
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality/ HIPAA compliance
- Must have transportation to attend appointments locally
- Technical skills for learning/using online portal (printing and uploading vouchers required)
- Must have access to a printer
- Proper setup to do video calls as needed
- Simultaneous interpreting experience preferred
- Background checks required
- Schedule is PRN (as needed) with availability M-F 7AM-5PM
