Job Summary
French (FRA) and Swahili (SWA) Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor will provide live virtual instruction to advance language proficiency and cultural understanding in French and Swahili. Responsibilities include delivering instruction across listening, reading, and speaking (DLPT/ACTFL/OPI benchmarks), teaching regional culture using modern blended-learning methods, developing lesson plans based on designated POI, assessing and adapting lessons for ILR levels 0+ to 3, reviewing and grading assignments, maintaining a professional virtual classroom, addressing student behavior/attendance with the site lead, and collaborating with the Site Lead, POI analyst, and Language Instructional Developer to close curriculum gaps. Location is Remote Support at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA (US). This role emphasizes government-approved materials and ongoing instructional support for DL and LREC programs.
Required Qualifications
- Experience providing virtual language instruction
- Ability to assess, develop lesson plans, and deliver instruction based on ILR levels 0+ - 3
- Proficiency testing or assessment familiarity (DLPT, ACTFL, OPI)
- Ability to review, correct, and grade assignments and provide actionable feedback
- Familiarity with government-provided instructional materials and POI requirements
- Ability to collaborate with Site Lead, POI analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address gaps
- Strong classroom management and professional virtual-learning environment maintenance
- Ability to adapt instruction to student interest and varying proficiency levels
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for remote instruction environments
