Freight Specialist

Job Summary
Supply departments with accurate and timely carrier freight rates and negotiate rates with carriers while evaluating competitive pricing. Set up and maintain freight rate tables and fuel surcharge tables across multiple locations. Research, evaluate, and vet new carriers, then set up existing carriers and electronically file carrier agreements. Audit carrier information, loading numbers, and terminal activity for accuracy, and perform daily insurance audits to ensure current coverage. Resolve loading, allocation, and carrier-related issues, and troubleshoot problems affecting freight operations and the supply chain. Provide administrative support to Supply, Sales, Logistics, and other internal departments while communicating effectively with carriers and team members. Work full-time on-site in a fast-paced environment requiring overtime when needed.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and manage competing deadlines
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ability to work overtime when needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced freight environment where priorities and market conditions can change quickly
