Job Summary
Freight Handler role responsible for high-precision freight handling and safe operation of forklifts, pallets jacks, and related equipment at Roadrunner’s Nashville service center, ensuring accurate loading/unloading, tagging, securing, and movement of shipments while maintaining dock throughput, safety, and quality. The position requires reading and following work orders and procedures, performing stacking/bundling to ensure stability, and collaborating with operations leadership to maintain a high-performance dock environment. Key duties include ensuring shipment visibility through tagging and documentation, maintaining equipment cleanliness, adhering to hazardous materials protocols, and supporting cross-functional coordination to meet service-center throughput goals. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting, with a focus on contributing to Roadrunner’s national long-haul network and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 months of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Forklift driver qualification required
- Hazardous Material Training preferred
- Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Experience in freight, logistics, warehouse, or LTL environments is a plus
- Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain composure in a fast paced setting
