Job Summary
Freight Handler- Part Time responsible for loading and unloading freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, staging, scanning, and movement of cargo within a dock/warehouse environment. The role includes labeling, sorting, packing for shipping, assisting drivers, and maintaining documentation accuracy using handheld scanners and company systems. You may mentor and support the development of other Material Handlers, uphold OSHA and PPE standards, and contribute to dock productivity. The position requires 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience, valid forklift certification, effective English communication, basic arithmetic, and the ability to operate MHE. Schedule is Monday–Friday 7am-10am, onsite, part-time; duties include safety compliance, reporting issues, and performing tasks under supervision while learning equipment operation and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid forklift certification/licensure required
- 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
- Basic arithmetic skills to verify freight counts, quantities, and weights
- Willingness and ability to learn and use basic computer systems, handheld scanners, and freight-tracking devices
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks, dollies, hand trucks, order pickers, pallet riders, conveyors, dock plates, dock levelers, sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks (with company-assisted certification/training)
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Physical ability to perform extensive standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting for 8-12 hours per shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry freight up to 50lbs without assistance, with occasional lifting up to 75lbs with assistance or mechanical aids
