Job Summary
Senior backend contractor role owning the Formitable (Zenchef) backend: a .NET/C# Azure-based backend responsible for performance, stability, incidents, and platform upgrades, with production ownership of releases and rollbacks. You’ll work closely with the DevOps lead and support team, tackle production issues (SQL Server, Cosmos DB, EF Core, Mollie/SEPA integrations, webhooks, SignalR), drive targeted feature development and platform upgrades, and maintain internal tooling and observability. Requires deep Azure production expertise (App Service, AKS, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Application Insights), strong DBA instincts, and 8+ years of experience; excellent communication in English and ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience with Azure production ownership and backend development (.NET/C#)
- Hands-on production experience with Azure services (App Service, AKS, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, SignalR, Key Vault)
- Strong DBA instincts: ability to read execution plans and design indexes aligned to access patterns
- Experience owning overnight releases, rollback plans, and production readiness
- Experience handling incident response and production incidents across bookings/payments/webhooks
- Proficient in diagnosing issues across SQL Server, Cosmos DB, EF Core, and related data stores
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Application Insights) and debugging in production environments
- Clear written English communication and ability to explain technical trade-offs to stakeholders
- Willingness to engage in flexible engagement models (async or on-call with retainer)
- Nice-to-have: experience with Mollie or EU payment methods; restaurant tech or high-concurrency platforms; English/Dutch/French language skills
