Job Summary

Plan and deliver assessment activities for Low Carbon Heating Technician Level 4 apprentices, making objective, evidence-based grading decisions while maintaining regulatory compliance and independence. Contribute to the design of assessment materials, including question banks and mark schemes, and validate content for technical accuracy and industry alignment. Participate in standardisation activities, lead calibration of assessors, and undertake external quality assurance visits to ensure consistency across centres. Provide clear, constructive feedback to apprentices and produce accurate written reports using correct regulatory paperwork. Maintain continuous professional development and stay updated on apprenticeship standards and regulatory frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Low carbon heating technician Level 4
  • Functional Skills Level 2 (English and maths)
  • Recent experience in the occupation in the last two years
  • Proven assessment experience, including sampling and feedback
  • Understanding of safeguarding, duty of care, EDI, and regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and report-writing skills
  • Confident in stakeholder engagement and presenting professional judgement
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and to deadlines
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD
  • Adaptable and willing to travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Level 4 Low carbon heating technician and/or significant experience
  • Have or working towards Assessor qualification (D32/D33, A1, TAQA, or equivalent)
  • Quality Assurer (D34, IQA Award, EQA Award)
