Job Summary
Design new styles based on trend direction and brand aesthetic, sketching original concepts by hand or digitally and translating them into clear, detailed design specs. Research trends across alternative fashion, festival wear, rave, goth, and punk spaces to keep designs current. Select fabrics, trims, prints, and washes appropriate to cost targets, then build and maintain tech packs with measurements, construction details, callouts, colorways, and trims for factories. This flexible, project-based role supports the product team from concept through production, requiring independent work within a freelance structure. A strong portfolio demonstrating range across silhouettes and a deep understanding of the brand's unique aesthetic are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of our unique aesthetic and lifestyle
- College degree in Fashion Design
- 5-7 years industry experience in fashion design
- Tech pack experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
- Ability to sketch computerized vector flats in Adobe Illustrator
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines within a freelance/contract structure
Desired Qualifications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating range across silhouettes, prints, categories and trims
- Bonus points if portfolio already leans alternative/subculture
- Hand sketching skills
