Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain Ruby-based applications and services with clean, efficient code, focusing on building and optimizing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures. Write comprehensive tests using RSpec and Minitest to ensure code quality, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Debug and resolve production issues quickly, integrate third-party APIs, and optimize application performance and database queries. Contribute to technical documentation and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering best practices. This role requires 3+ years of Ruby experience, proficiency in Rails, and a strong understanding of object-oriented principles.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience with Ruby development
- Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails framework
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing efficient SQL queries
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Proficiency with Git version control and collaborative development workflows
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with background job processing (Sidekiq, Resque, Delayed Job)
- Knowledge of Ruby testing frameworks (RSpec, Capybara, FactoryBot)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Contributions to open-source Ruby projects
