Job Summary
FPGA DSP Engineer to join DroneShield in Sydney, Australia. You will develop and expand drone recognition and disruption algorithms using software-defined radios (SDRs) and implement complex DSP in production-grade firmware. The role emphasizes RF concepts, FPGA/ARM development, real-time wide-spectrum RF DSP, protocol identification and data recovery, and optimization for recognition, performance, and maintainability. Candidates should have a BS in Electronic Engineering or related field, 3+ years in a team, strong Verilog/SystemVerilog experience, FPGA toolchain proficiency (Vivado preferred), high-throughput low-latency FPGA architectures, automated verification frameworks, C/C++ firmware, Python scripting, and Linux experience; PCB hand-on and RF knowledge are highly desirable. Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of qualified experience
- Strong experience with Verilog, VHDL or SystemVerilog
- Strong FPGA development experience using tools such as Vivado (preferred), Quartus, Vitis
- Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency FPGA architectures
- Experience with automated Verification and Validation frameworks
- Experience writing C/C++ firmware for FPGA modules and Python scripting
- Experience in a Linux environment
- Experience with PCB schematics, board bring-ups and hardware debugging desirable
- Knowledge of RF concepts and RF transmission protocols desirable
- Background in Digital Signal Processing highly desirable
- Understanding or working knowledge of machine learning concepts within FPGA context desirable
