FPC Security Officer (Full Time)

Job Summary
Conduct daily armed security patrols of church buildings, parking lots, and surrounding property to monitor for suspicious activity, hazards, or unauthorized access. Maintain a visible armed presence throughout the campus while carrying and maintaining authorized firearms in accordance with policy and laws. Respond to security threats, alarms, medical incidents, and facility concerns using de-escalation techniques and prioritize safety and communication. Lock and unlock facilities per schedule, enforce safety policies, and assist visitors, staff, and emergency personnel as needed. Complete incident reports and communicate relevant information to leadership. Work Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM in a full-time, non-exempt role.
Required Qualifications
- Prior armed security, law enforcement, military, or related experience
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently during shift hours
- Strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency or high-pressure situations
- Strong judgment, discretion, and conflict de-escalation skills
- Current Enhanced Carry license/permit or ability to obtain required licensing prior to employment
- Valid firearm certification and demonstrated firearm proficiency
- Knowledge of proper firearm safety, handling, storage, and situational awareness
- Physically able to walk the campus, climb stairs, and perform routine patrol duties
- Comfortable interacting respectfully with church members, guests, staff, and community visitors
- Clean criminal background and ability to pass all required screenings
- Willingness to follow church policies, procedures, and confidentiality expectations
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of First Presbyterian Church
- Monday - Friday schedule
- 2pm - 10pm shift hours
- Full-time employment
- Standing, walking, climbing stairs, and conducting patrols throughout the church campus
- Appropriate dress, professional conduct, and sound judgment
Desired Qualifications
