Job Summary
Provide students with learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for growth. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district curriculum, reflecting accommodations for individual student differences; plan instructional strategies, assessments, and use results to guide instruction; collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula as needed for IEPs; engage in collaboration with staff to set goals and methods; supervise instructional aides and volunteers; conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement; sponsor extracurricular activities; maintain a positive classroom environment, manage student behavior, communicate with parents and community, participate in staff development, and comply with district/school policies. Also responsible for following safety protocols and emergency procedures and directing the work of instructional aides.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
