Job Summary
Lead the development of real-time processing, networking, and delivery architecture for live sporting event data syncing with gaming environments. Build systems to ingest, transform, and optimize high-frequency motion data, handling state synchronization, buffering, and interpolation for reliable delivery. Design the networking layer between live data providers and games, focusing on latency, failure recovery, and scale while developing secure, observable cloud infrastructure. Work closely with games engineers to optimize the complete live event-to-game system and design scalable infrastructure supporting future platform expansions. Contribute to technical decisions, documentation, and future engineering hires within a founding team building reusable infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Strong Systems Engineering skills, including designing and implementing scalable, real-time backend services
- Experience with Systems Design, covering architecture for low-latency event processing and high-availability services
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and reliability problems in distributed systems
- Hands-on System Administration and Technical Support skills for managing servers, observability tooling, and deployment environments
- Experience with real-time networking (e.g., WebSockets, UDP), concurrency, and event-driven architectures
- Comfort with at least one modern programming language commonly used in backend game or real-time systems (e.g., C++, Go, Rust, Java, or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, major cloud providers)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small founding team, take ownership of systems, and operate in a fast-evolving startup environment
