Founding Engineer: Consumer Mobile (React Native)

Founding Engineer role in San Francisco for an in-person position focused on an AI-powered map and messaging product that helps people discover places/events and connect with friends. Own problems end-to-end across the stack—from frontend to backend, infrastructure, and AI—designing and shipping product and systems from zero to production. Collaborate directly with the founders on product and architecture decisions and shape core systems, with opportunities to work across the stack and contribute to areas such as ranking with embeddings, search latency optimizations, real-time chat/presence/location features, map display algorithms, and AI agent pipelines. Areas of focus include Application Engineers (full-stack) and Data/AI Engineers using TypeScript, React/React Native, iOS/Android, Python, Elasticsearch, Snowflake, LLMs, and retrieval/recommendation systems. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR emphasizes ambitious end-to-end delivery, strong problem-solving, fast iteration, and taste in product feel; typical backgrounds include competitive programming or math, early-engineering experience at high-bar companies, and open-source contributions, though none are required.
