Job Summary
Founding CTO to architect and build the automated underwriting engine and lending platform with Python at the core; hands-on development, product strategy, and leadership to scale from a 12 to 20+ person technical team, while engaging with investors and supporting fundraising. Responsibilities include leading production-grade development in Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI), designing consumer-facing apps and SMB financial tools, partnering with business leadership, and mentoring engineers. Required skills include Python expertise, FinTech/underwriting experience, familiarity with automated underwriting and risk scoring, startup leadership in high-growth environments, and a track record in capital raising and product launches; the role combines technical execution with investor-facing and strategic responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Python Expert: Deep hands-on experience building production systems in Python (Django, Flask, or FastAPI)
- FinTech Experience: Background in consumer finance, small-business lending, or real estate finance
- Underwriting Systems: Familiarity with automated underwriting, credit modeling, and risk scoring
- Startup Leadership: Proven track record as an early engineer, CTO, or technical founder in a high-growth startup
- Capital Raising: Has directly supported or led fundraising efforts of at least $10M
- Product Launch: Experience bringing new products to market in regulated or finance-adjacent spaces
- Investor-Ready: Skilled at working directly with investors, boards, and external stakeholders
- Culture Builder: Ability to create and sustain a high-performance engineering and product culture
