Founder (CTO) - Industrial Laser Venture

Job Summary
Founding CTO sought to take a validated handheld laser prototype to a deployable, manufacturable, field-ready product. You will own the technology, drive the engineering roadmap, manage system integration and supplier relationships, and design for manufacture. The role requires deep hardware productisation experience, end-to-end ownership of complex builds, and the ability to work with an inventor and a commercial co-founder to scale a high-power laser system from prototype to production. You will lead the technical foundation and team, delivering a product that matches industrial throughput with single-pass precision, overseeing BOM, supply chain, thermal architecture, beam-delivery safety, and the overall product lifecycle. This is a founder-level opportunity with meaningful equity, funding support, and hands-on involvement in product, hiring, and fundraising.
Required Qualifications
- Hardware productiser with proven experience taking hardware from prototype to product
- End-to-end systems ownership experience (specifying components, managing integrators and suppliers)
- Depth in lasers, optics, or photonics; or precision electromechanical systems, robotics, or industrial automation
- Commercially oriented: BOM cost, yield, serviceability, and scalable engineering outcomes
- Willingness and ability to commit full-time
- Strong collaboration with inventor and commercial co-founder
- Ability to design for manufacture and drive supply chain and reliability improvements
- Experience with high-power laser systems and thermal management is a strong plus
- Ability to work in a founder-led environment and share risk and upside
