Job Summary
Foster Care Supervisor responsible for directing foster care programs, supervising the case-management team, enforcing licensing and regulatory compliance with Michigan DHHS and accrediting bodies, coordinating licensing renewals, coordinating recruitment and training of foster parents, and collaborating with external agencies. The role involves establishing administrative procedures, developing and implementing policies, managing program operations within budget, maintaining essential records, and representing the agency to outside groups. The position requires leadership, strong communication, strategic planning, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Travel and some evenings/weekends are expected, with a focus on ensuring high-quality foster care services and adherence to state and agency policies.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a human behavioral science such as Social Work or related discipline (25% coursework in human behavior science)
- Two (2) years’ experience as a case worker in a social services agency
- Must meet State’s Moral Character standard
- Child Welfare Training Institute required, with preference for CWTI Supervisory training completed
- Knowledge of computer and software applications (MS Office, LMS, MiSACWIS)
- NASW Code of Ethics or related fields of study/profession
- Policies and procedures related to child welfare
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
- Experience in budgeting and fiscal responsibility
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel for meetings and trainings
