Foster Care Coordinator

Job Summary
Lead and grow GAP's foster care program by coordinating foster placements for greyhounds, recruiting and supporting foster carers, matching dogs to appropriate foster homes based on welfare and medical needs, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with kennel, behaviour, medical and adoption teams to support rehabilitation and eventual adoption. Responsibilities include day-to-day program operations, carer onboarding/training, fostering capacity planning, documenting feedback for adoption profiles, ensuring welfare and compliance, and promoting the program through community engagement while driving program growth and positive welfare outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Qualification in animal studies and experience in animal welfare, animal care, foster care coordination or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of animal welfare principles and the care needs of companion animals.
- Knowledge of greyhound/dog behaviour, welfare and rehoming practices – desirable.
- Experience recruiting, training or supporting foster carers – desirable.
- Understanding of relevant animal welfare legislation and industry standards.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and using database or case management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software systems.
- Current driver's licence.
