Job Summary
Interpret laws and policies to develop psychosocial case plans integrating medical, social, and systemic treatment approaches for children and families. Provide direct counseling using family-systems models to strengthen families and prevent dissolution, while serving as legal guardian for foster children by consenting to medical treatment and ensuring their well-being. Make placements into foster homes, group homes, or residential facilities and perform crisis interventions for emergencies involving abuse or neglect. Collaborate with mental health, legal, and medical professionals to coordinate comprehensive services and oversee court interventions to achieve permanency goals. Write comprehensive assessments, monitor financial resources, and complete federal and state reporting requirements. Provide after-hours and weekend coverage on an on-call basis for immediate attention to children in legal custody.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field; or a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field, accompanied by a minimum of two (2) years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Service related area
- Experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Must be willing to travel occasionally overnight
- Must maintain residence within the Commonwealth of Virginia
Desired Qualifications
- Possession of a BSW degree, MSW degree, and/or a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Work license desirable
- Masters preferred
