Job Summary
The Forward Journey Coach works one-on-one with youth in a residential setting to develop individualized academic, career development, and housing goals. Responsibilities include building relationships, connecting youth to educational and career opportunities, providing social and emotional support, and facilitating access to resources. The role entails re-engaging disconnected youth in academic settings, advocating for their educational needs, assisting with career exploration and planning, and coordinating housing applications and independent living support. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree, experience working with youth, strong communication skills, and a willingness to work with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; Extensive experience working with youth
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required and/or timeframe for obtaining one
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Education and Foster Care (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong empathy and passion for child welfare
- Ability to respond to the developmental needs of children across different age groups
- Ability to work with families with histories of chemical dependency, mental illness, abuse, and diverse cultural/socioeconomic backgrounds
- Strong time management, diligence, resilience, and teamwork experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with CONNECTIONS preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish
