Job Summary
Forward Deployed Engineer at Mattermost Federal works directly with defense, intelligence, and national-security mission teams to deploy and integrate Mattermost in classified and mission-critical environments. You’ll move between coding and deploying infrastructure, prototyping capabilities, and building integrations and automations that improve operational workflows, often with operators in the loop and in constrained environments. Expect travel roughly one week per month onsite with customers and a focus on AI-enabled workflows, knowledge retrieval, and mission-centric tooling. Ideal candidates have strong engineering skills in Go, Python, or TypeScript; experience with Kubernetes and distributed systems; and a passion for solving open-ended technical problems in secure environments.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required; eligible to obtain/maintain U.S. government security clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
- Experience with securing environments classified or DoD/IC contexts
- Experience building integrations/operational tooling
- Experience with Kubernetes, distributed systems, APIs
- Comfortable working in classified environments
- Strong communication skills with engineers and operators
- Willingness to travel ~1 week per month
