Forward-Deployed Engineer (LatAm Only)

Job Summary
Design, implement, and maintain integrations between R2's platform and partner APIs, data pipelines, and backend systems. Diagnose, debug, and optimize these connections by gaining controlled access to live partner data to identify edge cases and ensure data integrity. Build and deploy lightweight APIs, ETL jobs, or infrastructure changes to rapidly translate customer needs into working software. Act as the technical point of contact for new deployments, monitoring performance and resolving production issues while creating deployment playbooks and documentation. Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to tailor systems for each partner's unique context. This senior, hands-on role operates at the intersection of software engineering, product integration, and data infrastructure, supporting R2's expansion across Latin America following a strategic investment from Ant International. Fluency in Spanish and English is required for seamless collaboration with partners in Santiago, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Bogotá.
Required Qualifications
- 6-8+ years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or data engineering
- Deep experience with coding languages such as: Python, Go, Node.js, RESTful APIs, and SQL
- Strong understanding of data systems, access control, and secure data handling
- Proven ability to work directly with external engineering teams
- Comfortable debugging production systems and working with sensitive data under strict compliance constraints
- A self-starter who enjoys autonomy, thrives in ambiguous environments, and takes full ownership of mission-critical outcomes
- Passionate about financial inclusion and technology's ability to reshape access to capital in Latin America
- Experience with financial APIs, underwriting systems, or risk infrastructure
- Fluency in Spanish and English
- Exposure to customer-embedded roles at technology firms (Palantir, Stripe, or API-based startups)

Desired Qualifications
