Job Summary
Modernize enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Flink while leading AWS infrastructure standards and deployment practices. Build GenAI and agentic AI solutions, including development and test agents, using Vertex AI and Google ADK. Develop Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Python Lambda to automate provisioning and CI/CD pipelines. Partner with business, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions aligned with enterprise compliance and scalability standards. Mentor engineers and share technical learnings to improve overall engineering practices. This role supports The Hartford's Employee Benefits IT Team in shaping the future of insurance technology through innovative AI enablement and robust cloud architecture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE experience, including Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, JMS, XML, JSON, JDBC, Flink, Apache Camel, or related frameworks
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, cloud automation, build specifications, and repeatable deployment patterns
- Strong software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting secure, scalable, maintainable applications in an enterprise environment
- Strong AWS experience across application infrastructure, including Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CI/CD, observability, and production readiness
- Experience applying GenAI or agentic AI across engineering workflows, including code generation, test automation, workflow orchestration, and productivity improvements
- Ability to communicate across the organization and influence leadership, architecture, product, business, and engineering stakeholders
- This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- AWS certifications are a plus
- Experience with Vertex AI, Google ADK, GCP services, agentic AI frameworks, or AI-assisted engineering tools
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, reliability engineering, and modern DevOps operating models
