Job Summary
Partner directly with key customers to understand and solve complex web scraping and data extraction challenges, owning these requests end-to-end to improve satisfaction and retention. Manage and mentor scraping engineers who build and maintain data pipelines on behalf of customers, while translating frontline context into actionable product feedback for the engineering team. Define, build, and scale the Forward Deployed Engineering function as the company grows. This founding role sits at the intersection of customer success and engineering at an early-stage data infrastructure startup, offering a clear path into engineering management.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional engineering experience with a track record of shipping quality software systems
- 1+ years of direct customer-facing technical work — solutions engineering, technical account management, sales engineering, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience building, debugging, and maintaining web scraping or data extraction systems at scale
- Proficiency with scraping frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Puppeteer, BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or similar
- Familiarity with bot detection evasion, request infrastructure, or anti-scraping mitigation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to manage or mentor engineers, translating customer needs into technical requirements
- Proven track record improving NPS, customer satisfaction metrics, or sales velocity through technical delivery
- Experience at an early-stage or growth-stage startup (Series A or earlier preferred)
- Familiarity with data-focused buyers such as investment analysts, heads of data, or founders — financial services background is a plus
- Experience with data quality assurance, validation pipelines, or structured data delivery is a bonus
- Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to NYC
