Fort Wayne Community Schools | Support Staff Substitute

Support Staff Substitute roles provide instructional support under a certified teacher, assisting with class activities for individual or small groups, following approved procedures, and maintaining classroom safety and organization. Assignments include School Assistant, Special Education Assistant, Secretarial/Media Clerk, and Nutrition Services; duties may involve supporting students with coursework, daily living tasks, mobility and safety-related activities, and supervision during outdoor/recess periods. Must be flexible and adaptable to different school settings, follow instructions, communicate with the Substitute Office about assignments and availability, and maintain a positive, supportive demeanor to promote student success. Education requirement is graduation from high school or equivalent; incumbents should be prepared to lift/interact with students as needed and to support diverse student needs across multiple program areas.
