Job Summary
Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials, coils, and finished goods between yards, warehouses, production areas, and packaging lines. Perform daily self-inspections to maintain equipment and ensure forklift certification is current. Conduct quality control inspections of finished goods before they leave the production line. Verify material counts, pallet tags, and paperwork during order preparation, ensuring items are properly marked and stored. Work in an environment with loud noise levels, extreme heat, and outside weather exposure while wearing required PPE. Maintain proficiency in reading and writing simple instructions; Spanish and English language skills are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Forklift certification
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively speak to other employees of the organization
- Ability to speak Spanish and English
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to sit
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear
