Job Summary
Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to stock, pick, transport pallets, load/unload trucks, and transfer raw or finished products in the warehouse. Utilize a computerized system to maintain records of product movement, pack and weigh boxes, and assign shipping methods. Check forklifts for safety daily, operate wrapping machines, and perform inventory duties including counting, verifying, and checking documents. Enter data from inventory and batch records, communicate with leads and supervisors on schedules, and complete clerical duties such as producing shipping paperwork and preparing mailings. Work nights in an open warehouse environment with temperatures that may cause discomfort, lifting products up to 600 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Forklift certification
- one to three years of warehousing experience
- good communication skills with the ability to follow verbal directions and written procedures
- Physical ability to reach, push, pull, and lift boxes weighing 5 to 600 pounds in raw material receiving, 5 to 300 pounds in component receiving, and 5 to 75 pounds in distribution with the use of powered industrial equipment
- Basic arithmetic skills to count/balance numbers of products and perform routine calculations
- Ability to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Must be able to drive/operate forklifts for the majority of the work shift
- Must be able to push/pull/lift/roll products from 5 to 600 pounds with a forklift
- Must work safely within tight deadlines
- Must wear a uniform, steel-toed shoes to protect employees from falling stock items, and protective eyewear, back support for lifting and when pulling stock from racks, face shield, acid apron, depending upon assignment
