Job Summary
Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, stage, and secure cargo for Roll-on/Roll-off vessel operations within the terminal. Safely maneuver equipment between vessels, warehouse facilities, storage yards, and delivery locations while positioning cargo according to loading plans. Conduct daily pre-operation inspections, report mechanical issues, and maintain equipment cleanliness. Follow OSHA regulations, wear required PPE, and observe traffic patterns around vessels, docks, and heavy machinery. Communicate with foremen and signal personnel regarding cargo movement and assist with terminal housekeeping and cleanup. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, and wind.
Required Qualifications
- TWIC Card Required
- Ability to obtain and maintain Port Everglades access credentials
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must successfully complete company-required equipment certification
- Must be able to speak and read conversational English
- Employee must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum one (1) year of forklift operating experience in a port, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
- Experience operating forklifts ranging from standard warehouse units to heavy-capacity forklifts preferred
- High School Diploma
- Strong attention to detail
- Fluent English/ Bilingual a plus
- Ability to obtain a Ports ID and a TWIC card
