Job Summary
Operate forklifts to load, unload, transport, and secure cargo for Ro-Ro vessel operations within the terminal. Position cargo according to loading plans, stack and organize freight in storage yards and staging areas, and handle oversized or specialized loads using approved equipment. Conduct daily pre-operation inspections, report mechanical issues immediately, and maintain equipment cleanliness. Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies, wear required PPE, and communicate with foremen and signal personnel regarding cargo movement. Perform terminal housekeeping, assist with vessel loading and discharge, and complete required training and emergency drills. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, and noise, while adhering to Port Everglades and maritime safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- TWIC Card Required
- Ability to obtain and maintain Port Everglades access credentials
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must successfully complete company-required equipment certification
- Must be able to speak and read conversational English
- Employee must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum one (1) year of forklift operating experience in a port, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
- Experience operating forklifts ranging from standard warehouse units to heavy-capacity forklifts preferred
- High School Diploma
- Strong attention to detail
- Fluent English/ Bilingual a plus
- Ability to obtain a Ports ID and a TWIC card
