Job Summary
Operate up to a 16k forklift to move, stack, and store cargo, containers, and goods at the river terminal. Assist in loading and unloading from vessels, trucks, and rail cars while monitoring barge drafters and crane operators. Perform routine equipment checks on conveyors, door guns, and barge loaders; report malfunctions and maintain clean work areas. Secure cargo, open/close barge cover doors, and track inventory to report discrepancies. Execute general labor tasks including cleaning pits and decks, lifting loads up to 50lbs, and working outdoors in varying weather. Follow strict safety protocols and PPE requirements while communicating with supervisors and crew. Shift work may include weekends and holidays. Certification required; previous terminal experience is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification
- Operate up to a 16k forklift
- regularly lifting loads up to 50lbs unassisted and occasionally up to 75lbs
- Climbing of ladders over 20' of vertical height while using fall protection
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling and reaching
- Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow instructions
- Basic math and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and follow directions
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, if necessary
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain)
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots
