Job Summary
Complete all assigned service jobs with precision, collaborating with the Road Lead Mechanic on technical challenges and unusual service problems. Submit daily paperwork including timecards and maintenance reports with customer signatures while maintaining open communication with dispatchers regarding job status and availability. Identify jobs requiring shop repair based on complexity or safety reasons and develop relationships with territory sales representatives to inform them of potential opportunities. Always uphold safety rules and policies to ensure a secure working environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as either a diesel mechanic, forklift technician/mechanic, or heavy duty mechanic
- Live in the Sugar Grove, IL, or North Chicago, IL areas
- Very good skills in repairing powered industrial equipment
- Strong customer orientation with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Time management expertise to handle multiple priorities
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with laptop fundamentals
- Ownership of necessary tools for repairs, per our recommended tool list
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record
- Certification to operate material handling equipment
- Commitment to the company's vision and mission
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds, and rarely up to 100 pounds
- Ability to frequently stand, recline (lying on back), kneel, walk, twist, reach, and use feet to repair and operate machinery
- Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and crawl
- Constant use of hands and fingers to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, computer equipment, and other office equipment
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Listening, speaking, and writing skills to communicate with customers and service office
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
