Job Summary
Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near the center, cross dock, trailers, yard, or work site by reading work orders, inspecting items for damage, and segregating special handling needs. Operates forklifts and other equipment to load materials onto pallets, racks, and carrier vehicles while installing loading tools to prevent shifting. Completes receiving and shipping documents accurately using ProTrans specifications and mobile scanners, identifies shipments with proper markings and labels, and maintains a clean work environment. Conducts daily safety and equipment checks, performs banding, taping, and sealing operations, and actively works to improve the center's safety record.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 6 months related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Able to use scanning equipment
- Must pass the Protrans Forklift Performance Test
- Must be able to use both feet and legs when operating a forklift
- Must be able to use both hands and arms
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

- Must be able to load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand or with forklift or other handling equipment
- Must be able to load materials into carrier vehicles and install loading tools to prevent shifting or damage in transit
- Must be able to complete receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely via ProTrans specifications
- Must be able to complete receiving and shipping activities with use of mobile scanner
- Must be able to identify all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions
- Must be able to maintain a clean and orderly work environment
- Must be able to conduct safety and equipment checks daily
- Must be able to actively work to improve individual and center safety record
