Job Summary
Perform regularly scheduled maintenance of industrial batteries, including inspections, watering, washing, and full-scale cell voltage and specific gravity testing. Install watering systems, operate forklifts and reach trucks, and safely process non-potable water recovered from battery washes while testing acidity levels. Maintain accurate parts inventory, ensure work orders are submitted timely, and comply with safety, EPA, and OSHA policies. Follow assigned schedules to ensure regular product maintenance and establish good working relationships with customers. This part-time role offers 24-30 hours per week with a pay rate of $18/hr. Bilingual Spanish speakers are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience involving battery industry or related experience
- Must be able to safely operate a service vehicle
- Must be able to operate a forklift and reach truck
- Must be able to recognize and address safety and EPA issues
- Must be able to safely and correctly process non-potable water recovered by the battery wash
- Must be able to test for and analyze results of acidity level of water (pH)
- Must be able to perform voltage testing and pressure washing of battery
- Must be able to maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory
- Must be able to follow assigned schedule to ensure regular product maintenance
- Must be able to comply with company policies and procedures (regarding issues such as warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, and hazmat)
- Must be able to ensure work orders are filled out properly and submitted in a timely manner
- Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers
- Must be able to communicate with others (supervisor, company technicians or other departments, as needed), to coordinate necessary repairs or either resolve customer complaints or seize opportunities
- Must be able to represent the company in a neat and professional manner in accordance with company standards
- Must be able to practice safety and good housekeeping in all circumstances
