Fork Lift Operator

Job Summary

Operate forklift equipment, set up the debone area with coolant and tubs, and transport finished product to scales, the manifest area, and rework zones. Maintain the forklift in a sanitary manner, replace batteries as needed, and move product requiring rework. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, wear required PPE including hairnets and smocks, and adhere to safety requirements while working in compliance with NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local regulations. Perform additional duties assigned by management and work cooperatively across departments. Ability to work unsupervised, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts. Stand up to 8 hours, lift up to 60 lbs, and tolerate heat, cold, noise, and raw animal odors.

Required Qualifications

  • Fork lift certified
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Relative poultry industry experience
  • Basic math functions and skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned
  • Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Hairnet
  • Smock
  • Earplugs
  • Lift up to 60 lbs
  • Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment (45oF, 4oC)
  • Ability to work around raw, live animal odors
  • Ability to work in a wet and dusty environment
  • Frequent exposure to heat (incubators are 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production
  • Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
  • Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling
