Forestry Technician Crew Lead

Job Summary

Complete administrative duties including payroll and production tracking, while ensuring a safe environment through equipment inspections, drills, and inventory management. Plan daily and weekly production logistics, inspect team work against sample plots, and lead crew members through camp setup, maintenance, and teardown. Participate in boundary and road layout tasks, riparian assessments, and ecotype identification. Train new staff on all job functions and submit deliverables to the supervisor. Work in physically strenuous terrains with a safety-conscious attitude. Full-time role with 10 days on, 4 days off, paid travel time, and accommodations.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of Forestry-related experience
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent
  • a current Driver's Abstract
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field
  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
  • A safety conscious attitude
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions

Desired Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and picking up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role would be considered an asset
  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent
  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset
