Job Summary
Forestry Technician 1 assists the Forester-Buyer in providing raw material to the production yard to meet production targets. Performs technical forestry duties including pole marking, timber cruising, and flagging boundary lines. Conducts routine logging inspections to ensure proper harvesting specifications. Responsibilities include supplying poles to meet annual production, verifying material quantity and quality, supervising pole manufacturing for quality control, following up with open market producers for material, responding to special market requirements for poles and piling, inspecting potential timber sales, maintaining industry contacts for future production information, providing monthly pole-volume estimates, participating in safety programs, and performing related duties. Qualifications include a Forestry Technical Associate Degree or related field preferred or two years’ related experience, plus a Driver’s License; and 2-4 years’ timber experience; strong verbal and written communication, ability to work independently or in a team, and ability to read and interpret safety and operating documents.
