Job Summary
Conduct daily maintenance of restoration tasks delegated by the supervisor, including invasive plant control, mapping, and plant care. Lead Forestry Technicians and volunteer teams on weekday restoration projects while using equipment such as chainsaws, sprayers, and brush cutters. Collect field data via handheld GPS or tablet, upload it to ArcGIS Online, and create or update greenspace maps. Drive a pickup truck and trailer to access work sites across the metro Atlanta area. Requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds on uneven terrain, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasional evening or weekend flexibility is needed.
Required Qualifications
- A valid driver's license (minimum of three-year history) with a clean record
- Ability to conduct strenuous physical activity, lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, and work on uneven terrain
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
- Capable of working individually or in a team
- Updated tetanus shot
- Interest in working with plants (specifically native plants) and/or urban ecology
- Occasional flexibility to work on an evening or weekend
- All final candidates will be required to pass both a criminal background check and drug screening
- Final candidates applying for positions that require driving company owned vehicles will also have to pass a Motor Vehicle Report review
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in pickup truck and trailer driving preferred
- Comfortable applying herbicides (training required and provided)
- Preferred majors include Ecology, Botany, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Urban Forestry, or a related field of study OR 1-year experience working in a related field
- Familiarity with ArcGIS or other GIS mapping systems is helpful
- Basic knowledge of Southeastern flora is highly desirable
