Job Summary
Provide maintenance, repair, and operational work for recreational facilities and non-motorized trails within an assigned geographic area of State Forest land in Northwest Oregon. Perform basic facility and non-motorized trail maintenance, collect fees at recreational facilities, inform the public of regulations, facilitate daily volunteer activities, and carry out recreation management duties. Duties include overseeing campground and trail operations, coordinating contracted services, ensuring compliance with fire laws and regulations, and responding calmly during emergencies while coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services. Strong customer service and public communication skills are needed to interact with forest visitors and share information about State Forests and forest management.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen months of experience in Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or Forestry Education and Interpretation OR Associate degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Forestry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
