Forensic Structural Engineer

Job Summary
Manage structural forensic engineering assignments by performing assessments, photographing site conditions to determine causes of loss, and conducting on-site interviews to collect histories and data. Develop reports outlining observations, applicable codes, findings, and conclusions for insurance carriers, attorneys, and property managers while maintaining rigorous project data management. Supervise junior engineers in field work and research when appropriate. Testify in legal proceedings when required. Travel within 150 miles of the Houston office location and occasionally to other NV5 regions. Requires a PE license in Florida or ability to obtain one within six months.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering
- Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date
- constant travel within 150 miles of your office location
- occasional travel for work with other NV5 office locations/staff or geographic regions
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience
- Litigation experience
