Job Summary
Inspect various building structures to assess structural integrity, perform cause-and-origin analysis of failures, and review projects for compliance with building codes and industry standards. Conduct investigations to determine root causes of events and failures, including property field assessments for residential and commercial losses. Deliver comprehensive engineering analyses and written reports to clients, while providing expert testimony in court or depositions. Document billable hours on a time-and-expense basis and collaborate with a national team of forensic experts. Requires a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in a New England state and eight years of experience in failure analysis.
Required Qualifications
- A current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in at least one New England state
- Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Prefer experience specifically in failure analysis and forensic engineering
- Familiarity with wood, steel, masonry, and concrete design and construction
- Experience building envelope components and details
- Knowledge and familiarity of applicable building and design codes and standards
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Good communication skills
- Strong project management and analytical skills
