Job Summary
Forensic Program Support Worker — Winnipeg: join Shared Health’s Adult Forensic Services to assist in community reintegration plans and support risk management, rehabilitation, and development of formal and informal support networks for individuals in the forensic mental health system. Work collaboratively with the Forensic Mental Health Program, Selkirk Mental Health Center, Youth Forensic Psychiatry, and Manitoba justice/prosecution stakeholders. Requires strong communication, crisis intervention, relationship-building with high-risk youth and adults, knowledge of forensic mental health and criminal justice systems, and flexibility to handle sensitive, complex cases. Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle; evening and weekend work may be required. Minimum two years of relevant experience and appropriate education in human services (or high school diploma with related training). Familiarity with Indigenous culture/history and relevant community resources is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of related experience with people with mental health issues
- University or College education in human services, other related disciplines, or high school diploma and related training
- Knowledge of risk factors associated with risk to self and/or others, crisis intervention, service coordination and community consultation
- Requires a valid driver's license and a vehicle
- Excellent time management, organizational, prioritization and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of and experience in working with individuals involved within the Forensic Mental Health System and the Criminal Justice System
- Demonstrated skills and competence to establish supportive, trusting relationships with stakeholders
- Skills in assessing, planning, development and coordination of services related to involvement with the Forensic System, the Criminal Justice System and recovery
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with high risk youth and adults
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective networking and agency relations skills
- Able to work evenings and weekends as required
- Criminal Records Checks including Vulnerable Sector, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry checks as conditions of employment
