Job Summary

Forensic Accountant II role within the OSC Enforcement Division in Toronto, Ontario. You will apply investigative and industry experience to develop a structured investigation plan, adapt strategies as cases evolve, and execute those plans. Work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team to prioritize tasks and advance investigations. Collect, review, and analyze financial and non-financial documentary evidence and testimony, identifying and recommending solutions to potential issues. Independently make recommendations on appropriate proceedings, prepare evidence briefs, and support court or hearings with litigation and cross-examination strategy. Draft or review legal documents (settlement agreements, statements of allegations, affidavits, witness statements) and collaborate with litigators on disclosure, hearing briefs, and settlement discussions. Provide accounting and forensic accounting expertise on other files as needed. You should have strong CPA credentials (CPA Ontario or equivalent), ongoing professional development (MFAcc/CFF/CFE asset), and a deep understanding of securities law, IFRS, internal controls, and data analytics applied to regulatory investigations. The role emphasizes protecting investors, enforcing securities laws in Ontario, and contributing to fair, efficient markets in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Prescribed CPA coursework
  • Membership in good standing with CPA Ontario or equivalent designation
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant forensic accounting experience as a qualified CPA
  • Effective project management skills and investigations experience
  • Experience with IFRS matters and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of securities environment and regulation in Canada
  • Knowledge of interview and interrogation techniques
  • Experience with fraud investigations, forensic accounting, and business valuations (asset)
  • Experience with e-discovery software and data analytics tools (asset)
