Job Summary

Conduct new construction and repair of energized and de-energized transmission systems, including installing overhead lines, poles, insulators, and conductors. Lead crew members by performing pre-job and tailgate safety briefings, coaching lower classification employees on safe procedures, and overseeing project quality and deadlines. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and tensioners while climbing structures and working at heights near energized lines. Maintain proficiency in bare hand work up to 500kV and adhere to strict safety protocols for PPE and voltage isolation. Available for outages, storms, and emergency callouts with long-distance travel to out-of-state job sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of recent transmission line experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Willing to travel long distances on short notice
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime
  • Willing and capable to obtain knowledge in bare hand work – 44kV and 500kV
  • Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out‐of‐state assignments
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation
  • Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential on energized lines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of switching and tagging procedures, EPZ -grounding and understanding induced voltage on de-energized lines using the proper tools and test equipment
  • Climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment
  • Work at heights and in proximity to energized equipment
  • Must be experienced with coaching and training lower classification employee in safe and productive work procedures
  • Lead crew members and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings
  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners and pullers and other pieces of transmission line equipment
